a part of their cultural heritage. Turkish coffee finds its personality with a long historical
process.
Why Turkish Coffee?
A Brief History
The date on which the consumption and planting of coffee was introduced is the golden age
of the Ottoman Empire. During the reign of Yavuz Sultan Selim, the lands of Yemen also
joined the Ottoman Empire. The merchants discovered coffee and brought it to Istanbul. the
adventure of Turkish coffee started.
Before the conquest of Turks, there was no travel security in the region dues to the disputes
among Arabs, coffee producers couldn’t download crops to the beach, so the coffee
couldn't spread to other areas.
During the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, the Ottoman Empire dominated the Red Sea,
the coffee warehouses in the coastal area were under the control of Turks. The story of
reaching the masses in this period begins with the arrival of Istanbul.
“In his own period, the Italian traveler Pietra Valle writes that Turks have a different drink with
a black color, this drink is very different. It warms you up in winter and refreshes in summer
even though it is always drunk hot. This drink is not available during meals. After the meal. it
is drunk while chatting with friends. There is no meeting without drinking Turkish coffee.
They have a big fire to cook coffee. Porcelain coffee cups full of foamy coffee near the fire
are served hot. Sometimes they spend eight hours chatting with this hot foamy Turkish
coffee.”
The famous sociologist Giddens says that; One's drinking a cup of coffee by himself is a
personal ceremony, drinking with others is a social ceremony. Coffee; with its production,
preparation, transport, marketing and other phases of travel require constant interactions
among people who are thousands of miles away drinking Turkish coffee.
The famous sociologist Giddens explains how this approach can be used to create a
historical, cultural, religious, economic and sociological origin of Turkish coffee drinking
tradition.
It is also important to cook it as much as to get it. The importance of Turkish coffee is the
coffee grounds. The first time in the world to serve coffee with its coffee grounds are Turks.
This is the most coffee- flavored type with the most coffee beans in it. The foam on the
coffee is the most important detail that prevents Turkish coffee from cooking down and also
prevents the aroma from disappearing. Coffee grounds also create the ritual of looking after
fortune by closing the coffee cups of millions of people after their conversation.
Turkish coffee is on the list of representatives of untouched cultural heritage of mankind by
UNESCO in 2013 and is recorded on the list of representatives on behalf of Turkey.
We wish to establish friendship with all the world’s nations with a cup of Turkish coffee.
The miracle of Arınba coffee is hidden in itself, it is hidden in the folk songs of Anatolia, it is
hidden in the worlds of Sufis saying that I was immature for a while but now I am mature
and it it hidden in Pir Sultan, Yunus, Mevlana, Dedem Korkut.
The place where Turkish coffee is cooked
